    Help needed actinic v9

I have recently updated my site but i am getting the following error ; “Sending compressed files failed. FTP Compression has been switched off, resending” is the error that’s been coming up.

Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this please ?

Does your hosting normally enable compressed upload? if so go into web - network setup - ftp options and switch it back on. A few reports of this lately on various sites and hosting packages, i'm beginning to think we have an issue of a sort. Is yours a big site?

Try an upload again, we appear to be getting some intermittent reports regarding this feature, see if it happens again. Who you hosted with?

Sounds like it's not enabled or working on your server. I suggest you contact your host to check.

"Sending compressed files failed. FTP Compression has been switched off, resending"

That's not a problem at all - it means exactly what it says, Actinic has two ways of sending files, if compression is supported, then the files are collected and zipped up into a single file and then that file is sent, if it isn't then they are sent one at a time. If you select compression but your server does not support it, then Actinic tries the zipped method but it fails and so it then sends them one at a time. That message is just telling you that is what is happening.

So firstly, make sure the the compression option is switched off in your network settings and then do an upload - if your site doesn't then work correctly then do a refresh.

                      Regards,

It depends if it has been working and does so normally, this is the 4th mention of this now on different sites where the compression facility seems to be having intermittent issue of some sort. There's at least 3 other reports of sites that do support compressed uploads also getting this message, I think that's what is the problem here and possibly pointing to a little issue slowly unfolding.

Also - did you try adjusting the zip packet sizes?
