    Upload box disappearing

    Using Actinic V9 business plus.

Site has run fine for years but now will not upload changes. Upload box gets to sending base files then disappears.

Network setting when a test is run all pass.

Configure web site details all pass except final part the Mail Server where I get an error message “error occurred when sending a HTTP request”

My mail server is localhost as it has been for years without a password or username.

I have checked file permissions – CGI-BIN is set to 755 and acatalog to 777

I can still FTP to my site and see all files.

I have deleted all files in the CGI-BIN in case there is a corrupt one.

I have compacted the database and had a full refresh website and been into troubleshooting and purged and refreshed the site but on both occasions the upload box stalls at the base files then disappears .

My hosting company Host-IT have tested all settings and say everything is ok. I have been with them for 6 years and never had a problem before so I suspect it is a corrupt file.

Does anyone have any ideas. I have looked around at the forum but cannot find an idea that works.

Any help appreciated, very tired and frustrated with Actinic now.

    Thank you

    Richard

Usually, there'd be a number of fixes (as pointed out by Louise) for the disappearing dialogue box but, IMO, if your network test isn't working, I'd definitely be starting there.

I presume the network test used to work?
In which case, I'd be back to the hosts, tbh

Thank you everyone. As it is the network test that is not working I have gone back to my host. They are rechecking everything and will come back to me soon.

I will let you know if I find a solution.

The very helpful staff at my ISP have replied

“I have just read the update with regards to the snapshot it may be that there are files that are still on your local machine that are accessible to actinic on your machine but not included in actinic so when making the snapshot it dose not back up this data.

As we have a multi site version of actinic this import without any problems as it has done in the past, do you have any other machines in you office that you could install Actinic onto and import your snapshot into that just as a test so that we can rule out your local machine.

With the import errors this looks to be upgrading the template and other items for the store which is what looks to be the problem.
I will also look into the snapshot importing during the weekend to see why this is not importing correctly and try this on another machine with Actinic installed.”

So I have moved the site to a new computer as suggested by my host and it now uploads fine but the configure website details still gets stuck at the final email test section.

Hopefully I will be able to fix this soon.

A minor point but why has the first post that replied to me saying they were having the same problem been removed. Is it not helpful to know others are having the same troubles with Actinic.

The poster chose to delete the post because it unfortunatelty didn't help you.
The reference was to a KB article here: http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=44627

The poster (me) chose to delete his own post (and subsequent update, claiming success) because he discovered the following morning that he was no further forwards!

The suggestion worked the first time after a four hour refresh - but went back to the fault at the next attempted upload.

Also I originally missed the part mentioning your Network Test failing.
