Setup and Perl

I have a new Dedicated server and I am trying to set Actinic up by using the Site Wizard. I get as far as CGI-BIN address but when it gets to Perl Installation it keeps Trying Perl guesses, until it finally stopped.

Reading the Advanced Guide it states that Perl 5.006 or higher is required. When I look on my server In server components it appears Perl is installed but has the following entry - mod_perl 2.0.2-6.3.el5
I do know that I have a page where Perl does work http://www.leisurebuildings.co.uk/pathtest.pl and this states that Perl version 5.008008 is installed. Location of Perl is #!/usr/bin/perl

Does anyone have any idea why the site wizard can't find the location of Perl? as it appears to be there. I enclose an image of how far setup gets to.

I also enclose an later image where is states the cgiscript failed the DNS, socket connection, connection to remote server and invalid response.

1. Dedicated Host with Redstation
2. Unix
3. Permission cgi-bin is set to 755
4. Permission acatalog folder is set to 777
5. Is this your first upload? Yes on this server
6. Yes
7. No
8. Yes, received the above errors

I am not getting a Network Setup as Actinic stops before the end.

who is your host?
have you put this perl location in your network settings?
are the cgi-bin permissions set to 755?

paste your network settings here for others to take a look at

If you want answers out then you need to put info in, so many threads here contain no valid information and it always takes a number of posts before we even get to the start of looking at the problems

Hi Darren,
I've just added further information about the permissions etc in my 1st post. Running the Wizard I do not get a NetworkSetup report as it stops when it gets to Perl Installation.
I'm on a Dedicated server from Redstation so there is no one else on my server at all. As I say Perl appears to be installed as my test page pagetest.pl works and tells me version 5.008 is working. The location of Perl is the same on this test page as it is in Actinic.

Hi Darren,

Not sure is this is the right place, nor whether you can do this but could you sort out and set up my Actinic shop for me. I am not asking for this to be free, because that would be way out of line, but would be happy to pay a commercial rate to sort this out. I have spent ages trying different combinations of settings and getting nowhere.

I could supply my FTP server settings and also the login and password to the Plesk account on my server. Hopefully that would be all you would need but I don't really understand, even though it appears the settings should be right.
