    Merge Error on Upload

I got connected on my back up Xp computer, completed all of a refresh except the final merge. I get this message:

"An error occurred while sending the merge request."

    Any idea what causes this?

A search of the forum on any error messages you receive will often yield the answer, I think for this one you need to refresh the website, not just do a publish to web.

Often benign and can be ignored - I have never once found an issue after an upload with this message.

I did search the forum, found one message, tried that person's fix (disabling enhanced and passive ftp), and it didn't solve the problem. I did do a full refresh, and that didn't solve the problem - in fact, my store is now disabled. Any more ideas? What actually happens in the "merge?"

The merge is setting the local versions and the remote so next upload it knows what is changed. Have you tried the purge option from the Help > Troubleshooting menu?

Looking at the site the upload has borked the .fil files ... you need to purge and refresh from the troubleshooting menu (tick the 3 boxes)

Have seen this several times and it is often to do with the remote server... from experience it may need 2 or 3 attempts to get it back in sync

I think Bork is the forum member who explained how the files had become Jonteed.

As long as the files are now Normalised things should be OK.
