    Network Setup Problems

I'm flumuxed and need your help!

So I've used Actinic for several years on and off and never had any issues. I'm now on V9 and after not having my shop online for a while I'm now wanting to start it up again.

I've successfully set it up on my website hosted by Strato and I can place and retrieve orders fine. However, I can't get actinic to send confirmation emails to the buyer or to me tell me a new order has been placed.

I've entered my smtp server as smtp.strato.com which is the same as my outlook settings. I can send and receive emails through outlook perfectly fine. I tried changing the port to 587 and 465 refreshing the site each time but to no avail. I've tried using 'localhost' no good!

So I'm thinking this is an smtp issue as when I run a test in the network setup in Actinic it all tests successfully until I put in the SMTP settings. Putting the SMTP setting in results in the tests timing out.

However, and this could be a red herring, if I go to help, troubleshooting and run a Website Analysis, this does not work and eventually results in an internal server error.

So now I'm thinking that their is something wrong with the network setup eg path to cgi-bin etc. Although as mentioned the shop does work, orders can be placed, just no emails.

Any ideas from anyone would truly appreciated.

    Let's start with fhe basics.
I suggest you run a network test and then post the test results and an export of your network settings (with passwords removed).

There appear to be known issues with Strato hosting and smtp:

Thanks, yes I did read that thread and wonderered if my problem was with Strato.

I've posted my network settings below just in case anyone can fix this. Sorry this should have been done in the original post.

Without the SMTP server info in the network settings all tests run and pass fine and Web Site Analysis runs and completes in the Help/Troubleshooting . With the SMTP info in, the tests time out and Web Site Analysis bombs out.

I have worked around it for the being by using the sendmail patch/workaround/hack but that seems a bit of a backward step.

        Any ideas very welcome.

        Kind regards

        Leigh

You appear to have nothing entered for your smtp host?
