    Recent hosting issues

I have had a few issues with hosting recently, slow and Today for example only cached pages are showing. I am with Actinic and wonder if anyone else is suffering?

Until the last two Months (after upgrading my package) down time was absolutely minimal.

    Ed,
If you don't already have Firebug for Firefox installed then I recommend you get it. It has the ability for you to view the load speed of all the elements on the page and can help you quickly track down where any loading speed issues arise from e.g. network issue, server issue, file size issue etc

For example on element on the page that I can see sometimes takes around 3 secs to load is the AddToAny script (loading from http://map.media6degrees.com/orbserv...copes.co.uk%2F)

It's well worth checking out out how a page loads in the FireBug "NET" window.

Ed, the page seems to be loading fine now, but you may have already tweaked external links as mentioned above. If you are still having issues please contact our support team so we can investigate it further.

There have been no issues on our hosting, trust me, the dashboard measuring hundreds of server and service parameters is on a big screen on my desk and when anything out of the ordinary happens, way before an outage might occur, there are alerts sent to both our staff and our data centre staff.

I've placed a page load monitor on your site, just so we can see how it loads over time.

The plot thickens, I can no longer "see" on any browser / PC anything (including other Actinic sites on that server) from the IP of the server that hosts my site!

Either my ISP is blocking the IP or something is up on Actinics end....I have reconfigured everything at this end to eliminate including firewall / router / PC's and so on.

Thanks Steve - I have contacted support who are looking at this...

Update: So far the ISP is confident it is not them,

It all looks fine from here Ed and is running quickly. Just a thought but might be worth re-booting your router and clear the browser cache etc.

Thanks - all done even went to factory defaults, it is a strange one where it is only my IP that cant see Actinics server IP or anything on it - must be blocked from somewhere.

Sadly emails are queueing up now and just sit there waiting as there is no response from the POP server...

If you think it's your IP you could try visiting the site through an IP proxy site e.g.
              http://www.hidemyipaddress.org/
[NOTE: free proxy services tend to spam you with ads at same time!]

At least you'd be able to find out if it is an IP address issue or not.

LOL You were right on both - I can see the site through that proxy and got lots of ads...so it is an IP being blocked!

ok, so its possible that the server IP is being blocked at your end/ISP. I will double check now we are not blocking your IP in any way (you seeing host005 holding page confirmed that in reality, but always safest to double check). Its most likely that this is an ISP routing issue and someone in the chain is already sorting it out but Ive not had any reports of such issues.

Support have given me your IP and I can work out your ISP from that, now checking with our data center and connectivity partners to see if we can pinpoint where the issue may be

I can confirm nothing is blocking at our end of things and that

                              http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...es/td-p/527601

seems to be the issue (bad news for me as I use Virgin too, so I'm about to swap to my BT backup line)
