Moving to a different host

Not sure if this is the right place to post this question but I am currently with 1and1 who, to be fair, are making a damn good fist of hosting my site, however, their servers are based outside of the UK. Through various forums, I have heard it is always preferable to have a UK based server for a UK based company.
Would welcome your thoughts......

Don't bother. You have a .co.uk domain so Google knows where your website is aimed at. You only need to host on a Uk server if not using a .co.uk (or similar domain) as then google will use the location of your server as an indication of what country to show your results in.
