Try using an FTP client to connect to the server.
If the FTP client can't connect then it could be your host, ISP, firewall or router.

Try disabling your firewall and rebooting your router and if still not working try an FTP client on another computer elsewhere (friends?) which is on another ISP and router.

I had this or something very similar couple of weeks back, I had renewed my anti virus etc and the new firewall settings that were the cause,

my windows firewall is turned off & I don't currently have antivirus so I wouldn't have thought these have anything to do with it.

Have you tried an FTP client and rebooted your router?

Then you need to check that FTP account on your hosting, either through your control panel or by giving them a call. Looks like the password may have been reset perhaps.

                    123 FTP error

I have been having the same error trying to upload to 123-reg hosting.

Support came up with this answer yesterday~

Thank you for contacting 123-reg on the 17th January 2012.

We would like to thank you for your continued patience in this matter regards the intermittent FTP connectivity issues you have been experiencing recently.

Our system architects have been working on several changes to our servers in addressing this and are constantly monitoring this in order to resolve the issues raised. Additional resources and changes have been implemented in order to improve and stabilise FTP connections to your web space from its current state.

With these changes having been implemented you should see a noticeable difference in connectivity to your web space via FTP and a more stable connection.

Hi, It did publish ok this morning at 8am. I did change FTP times all to the max 60000 and set it to retry so this may have helped.

                          Im having the same problem.

With FileZilla it connects fine though!

With Actinic it does not! Its one of those things that really pisses you off!!

Its not like ive even touched the darn settings!
