    Test Mode cgi?

I have just uploaded my new site in Test mode to check that everything is working fine before going live, especially to check the Cart and Checkout as these cannot be checked in preview. However, I am not any further forth, as when testing the site uploaded to the test sub-directory, nothing happens when clicking Add to Cart or Checkout, not even an error message.
The web settings I have entered the same as with my other sites with the same host, with obvious changes such as domain name, and the test of this worked perfectly for everything. Any ideas why the cart and checkout fails to happen? Do I need to change a setting in the web settings for the test mode and change it back when I go live?

As always, an URL would help us to see what's happening.

      Thank you, but

I don't want to publish the domain name or its contents, because of competition, at this stage, as I still have a lot to do before going live. However, I can say the following if it helps:

Web settings on Actinic appear to be correct, all things stated as correct, and website uploads with no error. Catalog pages are in /acatalog/test/acatalog, and function as expected. When adding to cart, a page comes up with words to the effect, "Please wait while your browser takes you to the next page or click here". I wait. Nothing happens. I click here, nothing happens. However, cart contents populates with number of products added to cart and money amount, though slow to do so.

cgi-bin is in main directory, not in test directory. Web page name of cart/checkout comes up in browser, has 9 in front of cgi-bin number, which I believe is correct. But page does not appear on screen, just the "Please wait . . ." message.

Any suggestions? Otherwise, I will get on with other work on site (needs populating with the products) and come back to this problem just before launch, when the confidentiality issue will not matter so much. Thanks.

Everything you describe is as it should be. Unless anyone else has a suggestion it may have to wait until you can publish the URL.

          Problem Sorted

With the help of Actinic, the problem is sorted. In Settings: Business Settings: Ordering, I needed to tick the little box "Allow Orders from Unregistered Customers" even though I don't want to allow them. They have to be allowed so as to enable customers to reach the Checkout to register. As long as Always Create Accounts for New Online Customers is also ticked, they have to register to complete the order.
