Network Settings - Stuck, what should they be?

    Hello

I would be grateful if anyone could help me?

I have Actinic Business 9.0.5 and am trying to upload a new website for first time onto www.morenomasey.co.uk but it won't work.

    - Host Namesco individual virtual server VPS1 Plesk - root folder "httpdocs"
    - Tried network settings, but get the error messages below.
    - Have compacted database
    - Sorry but unsure how to check if permission on cgi-bin set to 755 or acatalog folder set to 777.
    - Network Wizard - Tried by won't work as requires cgi-bin and web root directories that are incorrect
    - Changed cgi-bin number, still does not upload
    - Ftp username and password do seem to work!

    Error Message:
Actinic is not able to run the CGI scripts on the server. It appears as if the scripts are not installed. The most likely cause is that you have an incorrect CGI-BIN URL. If you've never uploaded the site, then you should do it before a download of orders. If you've uploaded the site ever, then Run Web | Configure Web Site Details... to review your web site configuration.

    Thanks so much!

    Hi Catherine,

Have you got a site on namesco already? You should be able to get the settings from that one if it works.

To check the permissions, it's a case of logging into your site using some ftp software and then usually all you have to do is right click on a directory and select permissions (it does depend on the software you use though).

When you ftp into your site is the cgi-bin directory there in the home directory or is it under another sub directory? This is key to letting Actinic know where the cgi-bin is.

There are some existing threads on namesco settings, but they might not be relevant to your specific hosting type. It's worth checking through them in case you find something useful. A search for 'namesco settings' or similar should find them.
