    Outlook slow any ideas

I am having terrible trouble with outlook being slow, send and receive is painful. I have searched online and tried all fixes I can find.
is there a simple alternative, I am not the best at IT and really struggle these days with new software.

    Any advice appreciated thank you

    Hi Ed,

The only thing I can think of that would slow down outlook would be a large number of emails, a slow disk drive (as they're stored in a database), a slow connection or a slow email server.

If you have a large number of emails it's probably worth archiving the old ones. You can still access them if you need to.
If you have an old hard disk drive then you might consider getting an SSD.

A slow connection should be checkable. Also try disabling your antivirus just in case that's blocking it.

I've no idea how to check your email server speed or what to do if that turns out to be the problem.

Thanks Mike gone through all those, its ssd, 100mb very good Internet speed and all archived.
very annoying its just like when someone sends you a 10mb attachment but for every email.
Disabled avg to but didn't help. I was hoping it was a temporary glitch but its been days now.

Its odd, even closing an email results in it displaying the circular loading icon for 30 secs or more and nothing in outlook will respond until it finishes.

Its old (office 2007) but I have not heard of it being obsolete yet....

      Office diagnostics find no issues

All other programs are behaving normally

There does seem to be problem with Outlook 2007 and some add ins. Itunes and Icloud seem to be noted culprits.

Yes. I switched over to the subscription version a few years ago. I'd say the family version is quite reasonable really.

Office 2019 Professional Plus has a perpetual license and is supported until autumn 2025. I see it on Amazon for £40. And elsewhere for even less.

It seems that Microsoft requires businesses with websites to put some code on (a bit like Google analytics tracking I assume) before using office. Crazy and they give little or no tangible instructions and you guessed it...they've never heard of sellerdeck...I despair how unnecessarily complex running a basic ecommerce site is becoming.

So I dare not pull the trigger as I obviously need outlook to work immediately or my business simply ceases to operate.

Oh and I must create a Microsoft account for the business, my personal one doesn't count.

Yes, although obviously anyone buying these kind of deals has to do their own due diligence as all you're getting is a licence code and these cheap deals are often scams with sellers reselling the same code multiple times.

I think its time to consider preparing to finish up, sadly the complications and stress caused by continual upgrades and changes are no longer viable as a small business.
Gone are the days when support was truly a phone call away, now if you get through to anyone in pretty much any organisation the individual seems handpicked to deflect your enquiry away and never deal with it.
