Cannot upload complete site (Sellerdeck 2013)

    Hi,

We have a Test site in Sellerdeck 2013. The 1st upload, about 3-weeks ago worked fine. As has, hundreds of incremental uploads...

All of a sudden, certain files are omitted from the upload. Critical files like .CAT and Prompt.FIL

No errors, just do not get uploaded!

We have tried, for 4-days and nights, all permutations of Purge and Refresh, changed FTP Settings etc to no avail.

Note , we have been running a V7.5 site for 7-years on the same dedicated server without any issues...

We have read, and tried, many other ideas from other threads (a lot of which contradict each other) but still we have big problems...

    Any advice greatly welcomed! :-)

    Hi Bill,

You say that there are 'no errors' - by what means did you first discover that certain files were being omitted from the upload?

Just trying to get a bit more clarity on your problem.

These settings are important, as I'm sure you're already well aware. They may or may not have a bearing on your issue, but I'm curious as to why you have listed them as 'Not Applicable'?

        Hi Paul,

        Thanks for your responses...

Those 2-values are Not Applicable because we run a Windows Server - They are Unix/Linux properties...

And no, no error reported from Sellerdeck - the 'Upload Dialog' just disappears..

However, I have found it/fixed it... The FTP Options, and more importantly, the help file is incorrect in what it advises for FTP settings... Just uploading 2,000 files as a test...

I will post back very soon with my findings...

        Cheers! :-)

Glad it's sorted I completely missed the Windows detail when I skimmed the network settings (should've gone to... )

          Fingers crossed for you

            Paul,

            Didn't answer your question:

"by what means did you first discover that certain files were being omitted from the upload"

Just flicking through product pages and got a weird 'No Breadcrumb data for this (xyz) product...'

Upon investigation, the corresponding .CAT file for that product was missing off our server... Also, when trying to 'Search' we were getting 'Script error: Prompt.fil file missing...'

The common factor between these 2-files was that they were both over 500kb - looking for further files over 0.5mb we realised none of them had been uploaded.

I had the 'Run in Silent' upload option set - and retries set to 127 (the max) - when 127 failed uploads failed the Dialog simply disappears.

Also, because the upload fails - it doesn't mark any of the files as uploaded - every time you do another upload it starts at file #1 and re-uploads all of them! (that's why it's taken me 5-days and 4-nights to debug it!)

It's on file #1,750 of 2,100 right now (and NO errors in the Log file!)

            I'll post back real soon...

hi Paul (and others drawn to this thread)

              Found it! / Fixed it!!

The FTPBUFFERSIZE... (found in FTP Options under Network Setup) the Sellerdeck Context Sensitive Help suggests the default value should be 1460 which is what we set it to...

              Doesn't work!

If you 'reset to defaults' the default value is actually 4 - that didn't work for us either!

We restored a previous ActinicCatalog to see what our value was before it went awry... Value was 100.

So, we set if back to 100 and files over 0.5mb can be uploaded.

              Job done :-)

Nice work, Bill... I'm sure your findings will prove useful to others in the future.

Incidentally, there was a similar issue with another setting in 'FTP Options' in the SD2013 release:

If you are experiencing failure/timeouts in uploads...

                Fixed in 12.0.1

                  Paul,

Yes, wish I'd spotted that post sooner... exactly same problem...

Oh, BTW, when you set your laptop off to do a full upload on a Friday night when you're going away... Be sure to check the Power Options... I've just come back on a Sunday night and my laptop went to sleep 7,000 into 50,000 files upload! ;-) another 'Top Tip'! ;-)

                  Bill.
