Email, an easier way must exist

As clients like outlook become more complex (business 365 now requires a code on your website to authorise the account).
Fiddling with port numbers while praying and so on....is there a better way.?
I see webmail is superbly accessible but mailbox size is limited.
Its bad enough installing SD on a new machine but getting email running is now just as bad.
    Is there a simpler solution?
BTW all hosted with sellerdeck for email and website.

I'm sure a lot of my issues are due to fast becoming a dinosaur as most 30 year olds would I'm sure find it laughably easy.

    Thanks Ed

Ok. Has anyone setup gmail to work for email with the add account process. I have three pop3 addresses that I'd love to add.
I'm less than average at email settings. I believe it can be done.
I've watched a few YouTube videos but would love to be sure this can work it would be fantastic to access email from any device!
I am hosted with sellerdeck using three pop3 mail addresses.

I'd be more than happy to pay for setup of this if anyone can recommend, I have all the server settings and port numbers etc.

    Any advice appreciated

      Ok the saga continues,
Why is it so difficult to get email setup and working.

My old working pop3 version of outlook is impractical as its stuck on one pc, if the pc fails there goes my email. (I no longer have the elderly installation cd).

Unfortunately its not viable to test various options as three faiiled logins results in sellerdeck blocking the ip which is a complete nightmare so I need accurate settings.

I contacted 123 (they offer email solutions) who the domain is registered with and they quickly stopped me by saying they can't help as my nameservers are with sellerdeck (my host).

If there is anyone familiar with simple setup of ideally webmail or imap rather than pop3 email I would love recommendations .
      thank you

Are you able to get a version of outlook on the new PC?

If you can do this you should be able to reset the POP3 account settings to be the same as on your old PC if your host has not changed provisions at the server end.

It should also be possible to import the *.pst email backup folders and files from your old PC into Outlook onto the new PC.

I still download mail using POP3 from our host mail server into Outlook on our back office PC rather than managing the emails on our host server using IMAP.

Our website host now offers POP3 and IMAP and I have found that I can use the IMAP account settings on my mobile with Outlook Mobile App installed to access emails on the server which is useful to view, delete nuisance / spam and respond to important emails when away from the desk.

Thanks Martin in theory yes but it kept failing last time I tried.
That's what has made me try to get away from a client installed on a pc as when the pc dies you lose the lot.
As a host provider I hoped sellerdeck would have an email solution like many do.
I will attempt the Gmail option but my skills are very lacking!

Our domains are registered at Ionos...
Our sites are hosted at host-it...
Emails are managed by google (we use Google Workspace = not free... costs £ per user per month)

Not using @gmail.com to login but @domain on mail.google.com

We use these DNS (Ionos) settings to direct our emails to google servers
I'm sure something similar can be done for emails to go to 123?

Outlook stopped working with Gmail for me some time ago, and with Virgin (which I believe uses the Google mail platform) quite recently. It seems to be something to do with tighter security that Outlook can't support, but I've never really got to the bottom of it.

You might find IMAP works better than POP/SMTP. Mail hosts seem to prefer it now. I don't know why. It must put much more load on their servers because emails are loaded fresh from the server on every viewing.

Thanks Bruce, I'd love an imap solution as my main issue is being reliant on software installed on the pc, a login system is much more robust and accessible.

Ok try as I did I could not complete the task but yet again Jonathan Chappell (Graphicz) has done his usual superb job of resolving everything fast!

I can now login and check emails from any device.

So relieved and grateful, again I thoroughly recommend Jonathan for anything to do with sellerdeck and its related issues.
