    Product Line Title image

    A design question this really...

I'm trying to put a title image on each product range page(s), i.e. if i have 3 products, chairs, couches, beds when you go into the product range i would like to display an image at the top saying 'Beds' and similarly if you go into chairs I would like an image at the top saying 'chairs' with the list of products underneath. I have tried adding the html into various templates but it seems to add it to all pages instead of specifically the 'chairs' page for example.

    Any ideas???

Try using Custom Properties instead. You can use these to store an image filename. You then put e.g. CUSTOMVAR:MYIMAGE in your Product Template where you want that image to appear.

Read the help file and the Advanced Guide and you should find what you need there.

You can set such a property at the Section level so that every product in the section automatically has it available.

Cheers Norman, sounds complex but I'll take a look! Which template do I add it to if I just want it on the section pages (shown at the top under the nav bar ideally!) 3 images, 1 per section range...chair image, couch image, beds image for example.

Not really my area. Possibly Act_Primary.html but that will make it appear on all pages. You could also try Act_ProductBody.html near the top.

Best to test this first by adding some simple text and see where it appears before adding in a CUSTOMVAR.

Note that you can also set a customvar to a default value in Design / Options / Site Defaults, to set either a default image or a tiny invisible one.

I fudged it slightly by adding the image as a new product at the top, with no price, cannot be ordered online and then setting the template to be product_line2 and then editing that template...

still not quite sure how to make it a different image per product line...?

            use a new product

You can specify which template a product uses, (eg image right, image left, no image etc) from the drop down list on the product setting page. You can also make your own templates.
Thus, for my site, I have 'title' products which have images and text, but no 'buy' button, price info etc.
            works a treat.

Yeah, thats the only way Ive found to do it...I've had to go into the template and mess around with the format of it so it sits right at the top and take away all the pricing and quanity netvars so i get a clean space for the image...

              tricky but it works!
