    Absolute newbie questions...

    Hello,

I am a complete newcomer to e-commerce. I can design websites fine in Dreamweaver MX, but my knowledge of HTML is very minimal, and I have no coding skills. Great start, I know...

I have been asked to produce an online ordering system for a company that produces flower bouquets. My hosting company recommended Actinic. I have already produced the site - they just want online ordering adding.

My question is this: what do I need to do? By which I mean what (broadly speaking) is the sequence of events necessary to produce the system? Do I need to set up something like WorldPay, or can that be done from within Actinic. How easy is Actinic to use if you're a newcomer to e-commerce like me?

EDIT: The hosting company I am using is Fasthosts in the UK - has anybody had any experience of them (in an Actinic sense)?

    Thanks.

    Paul

The first thing to do, before worrying about design, is to get some familiarity with Actinic's operation. Do you have Actinic now? Add some products, put some options on, change the design theme and have a play. The Getting Started Guide gives a few exercises and worked examples to get you started with this.

To add 'WorldPay' to the list of Payment Service Providers, you just need to go to 'Business Settings | Payment and Security' and add it to the list of options within the grid on that tab.

When you are ready to think about design, check out the Designing With Actinic Developer Guide as this gives a faily good intro into what you can do with design in Actinic.

And last time I looked, the Advanced User Guide gives you details on how to integrate the Actinic ecommerce bit into an existing dreamweaver design.

Thanks for the input guys - I'm still working my way through the manuals. It's not as difficult as I thought, but then I've not started the actual work yet

        Cheers.
