    Can it be done?

    Hey guys,

I've been commissioned to design a UK specific version of the site www.menessentials.com

The .com site uses flat html pages which link to a "plug-in" shopping cart system, but the UK owner wants it to work with Actinic Business.

I have quite a good grasp of actinic templates but I'm not sure if i'm going to be able to make it work exactly the same way. If you click on the menu items on the left (for instance "shave") you will see that it works by first displaying a small picture of the product with title and price and links through to the full product description and a larger image.

Do you think that Actinic will be able to work like this or am I going to have to hack it about a bit to make it work?

    Thanks for your time.

You should be able to do this without too much hacking around.

First of all, the overall look and feel of the design needs to be implemented in the 'Overall Layout Template' called 'Act_Primary.html'. This can be found in the 'Site1' folder, and it is the template that controls the main branding and navgiation that goes around the bulk area. Start with one of the 'Clean Layouts' in 'Design | Themes' and then customise it as necessary.

Check out the 'Designing with Actinic Developer' guide (see link in my signature) for more info on design.

With regards to your section links and products, there is a section in the 'Advanced Users Guide' (see link in my signature) that tells you how to do a page of thumnail images. It is headed 'Creating a Page of Thumbnails' and is on p25.

Hope that gets you some way along the journey.
