server name or address not reolved

what does this error message mean and how do I resolve it

It will depend where it came from and what you were doing (which you omitted to say) but most likely means that you've mispelled the name of your FTP or SMTP server in Advanced / Network Setup.

      Hi April

On a bit of a gamble here but you wouldn't by any chance be using Freeserve as your internet connection?

We have had quite a few returning customers who have complained that our website was not accessible and they all had one thing in common - Freeserve.

I have tried to tell them that there appears to be a problem with their DNS lookup but they say not until they acknowledged that they had problems resolving to eBay! Anyways, I've been bashing my head against the proverbial brick wall.

Time to move the site (sigh!).

We have had issue with Freeserve recently too. They are very slow to update their DNS servers

We have a site at present which can be seen by most people but not Freeserve customers

More likely than not Tom's problem is as Norman suggests....a misspelling
