    https error

I am using the Catalog evaluation version 6.1.4. I decided to change the directory structure on the server as I intend to get two licences to separate our two areas of sales. I opted to place the entire catalogue in https.

When I access the shop homepage - https://domain/shop/index.html it shows https in the browser address bar. But when I click on the "Shop" icon to go to https://domain/shop/acatalog/index.html it changes to http://

Any ideas why this is happening? The checkout is in https.

I found a fix for this but don't know why it worked. I created a /cgi-bin/ directory in /domain/shop/ and didn't use the default /domain/cgi-big/ directory and all was OK. Our server is a Cobalt RaQ550 which allows cgi in any directory. Anyone have an answer for this? Does /cgi-bin/ have to be a specific number levels from /acatalog/? Thanks

The 'Shop' icon would have activated a Perl script in the cgi-bin and, for whatever reason, your server did not like the default cgi-bin having an https address - and so always changed it to http.

Check with your web host - it could be they have a specific directory name (e.g. 'cgi-secure') for secure cgi addresses that they want their customers to use.

We have our own server, a Cobalt RaQ550, and cgi will work in any directory. It does not have to be named cgi-bin or such.

It seems that something does not like the cgi and acatalog directories to be too many levels apart.

I'll see if the Sun support forum can turn up any explanation.
