    install problem

    Hi there,

I am trying to install the evaluation edition of actinic cataog but keep getting an error after I have entered my ftp details, so...

    1) does the evaluation edition allow you to upload, and if so

2)Is there anything I need to do with my webspace?

    Many Thanks

It does. Can you let me know what the error is?

Is there anything I need to do with my webspace?
There is a text file that can be sent to your hosting company that sets out Actinic's hosting requirements. It is called 'mail2hst.txt' and can be found in the root of the Actinic installation folder on your hard drive. Alternatively, you could always sign up for 30 days of free trial hosting with us. Click
HERE to register. Once you have registered, you will be sent an email with full instructions to get you up and running on the trial server.

    Hope this helps.

      Thanks Darren,

I contacted my hosting company and they replied -

"Yes, it is possible to use it with your package.

Both our Business and Professional packages have the rights to run cgi, perl and php files.

These files have to have an extension of either .pl or .cgi and you have to make sure that you have set the correct permissions (read and execute rights) on these script files. The command for setting this permission within SSH and FTP command line terminal is ( chmod 755 filename.pl )

The common pratice is to to create a subdirectory called " cgi-bin " on your web space and you can store and run your scripts from this directory. However you can put the script files in any directory of your web space and it should run.

Some common configuration options are :

Document Root (the absolute path to your web) ->
      $ENV{'DOCUMENT_ROOT'} (Perl) or $DOCUMENT_ROOT (PHP)
File extension for Perl scripts : .pl
      File extension for PHP scripts : .php3 / .php4
      Perl location : /usr/bin/perl
      Sendmail location : /usr/sbin/sendmail
      Python location : /usr/bin/python
      MySQL location : /usr/bin/mysql

      Perl is version 5.006001
      MySQL Version 3.23.51
      PHP Version 4.2.3
      Apache 1.3.3
      Python version 2.2

Please follow the belowed link for detailed information of the PHP installation on the server:
      http://rtb.me.uk/check.php

      Perl Modules
      http://ihre-webhosting-domain.de/perl/perldiver.cgi"

When I try and upload the site I enter my site address and ftp details then I enter my website address on the next screen and the error message "the wizard received an error while veryifing the web server. Error sending request"

      Any ideas??????

      Many Thanks

i am a bit lost as to how you entering you details, it seems like you are using the wizard. Try going into network set up under Advanced.

you should have settings similar to the following, if you do not use SSL ignore these bits

        HTTPPROXYMODE 0
        HTTPPROXYADDRESS
        HTTPPROXYPORT 80
        HTTPPROXYUSER
        HTTPPROXYPASSWORD
        FTPPROXYMODE 0
        FTPPROXYADDRESS
        FTPPROXYPORT 21
        FTPPROXYUSER
        FTPPROXYPASSWORD
        SCRIPTID 1
        SCRIPTEXT .pl
        SMTPHOST mail.yourdomain.co.uk
        WEBSITEURL http://www.yourdomain.co.uk/
        IGNOREPASSIVEERRORS true
        PATHTOPERL /usr/bin/perl
        SSLCATALOGURL https://www.yourdomain/acatalog/
        SSLCGIBINURL https://www.yourdomain/cgi-bin/
        SSLPATHFROMCGITOCATALOG ../acatalog/
        SSLCODEBASE ./
        SSLFTPHOST casupply.co.uk
        SSLFTPUSERNAME ******
        SSLFTPPASSWORD ******
        SSLPATHTOCGIBIN /web/cgi-bin/
        SSLUSEPASSIVEFTP true
        CATALOGURL http://www.yourdomain/acatalog/
        CGIBINURL http://www.yourdomain/cgi-bin/
        PATHFROMCGITOCATALOG ../acatalog/
        CODEBASE ./
        FTPHOST casupply.co.uk

        FTPPASSWORD ******
        PATHTOCGIBIN /web/cgi-bin/
