Please help, nothing works all of a sudden......

    Hey,

We are still evaluating Actinic and everything has been going pretty good until today.

I wanted to see how the whole system worked first of all to see if Actinic was suitable for us, so I added a few products to the catalogue and uploaded the site. Everything worked great and I could make and receive test orders with my PSP (ProtX).

I was happy with that so I went about adding all of our products and changing the theme and colours etc, as well as changing some of our business settings. Now when I upload the site, absolutely nothing works....

When you click an "Add To Cart" link, the page just refreshes. And the basket is always empty.

I know I must have screwed with an option I wasn't supposed to when I was fiddling with things. If anyone can help us out we would really appreciate it!

    Thanks a lot.

    Still no luck

I guess my problem is a bit vague for you to help.

When I run the Web | Configure Web Site Details... wizard, I get this error message at the CGI-BIN Address... part:
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________
An error occurred while attempting to change permissions of a afile or directory.
There was a failure in connecting to the FTP server in an attempt to execute a FTP chmod command.
The connection wizard will not continue.
Please configure your network settings through the Advanced | Network Setting dialog.

    ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ
    What does this mean?

When I configure the settings manually through Advanced | Network, it passes all the tests.

    Is this the problem?

    Please help

    Thanks

    Michael

      Hi there.

I take it your site is http://www.bleeding-edge-systems.com/ ? Could you let me know what your acatalog and cgi-bin URLs are in the Advanced | Network setup window please?

        Advanced | Network Setup

        Hey,

        They are:

        http://www.bleeding-edge-systems.com/acatalog/

        and

        http://www.bleeding-edge-systems.com/cgi-bin/

Please note that the acatalog was uploaded to see whether we used components, attributes and choices correctly.

We wish the catalog to look like http://www.bleeding-edge-systems.com/acatalogX/ when we are finished. Which is why nothing links to http://www.bleeding-edge-systems.com/acatalog/ from our site at the moment.

        Thanks

        Michael

          Hi there.

Just a thought, are you using 'Use relative cgi-bin URLS' in 'Advanced | Network setup?' if so can you try unchecking it then uploading the store.

If the above does not work, it is worth checking with the hosting company that the server time is correct, as this can cause cookie expiry problems.

            We'll see......

            Hey

I tried disabling the "Use relative cgi-bin URLs" without success.

I am now persuing support from the web hosting company about the potential problem you mentioned.

            Thanks
