    Uploading images

My first posting to this, so please be kind to me.

I'm working on a stock photography site which will have maybe 5000 downloadable images on it (maybe more if it's successful).

I'd like to keep my images as ordered as possible (ie. not all in the main Actinic directory)

How can I have images in different directories and still get them uploaded.

    Thanks for your time

images are uploaded from where ever you specify they live on your computer, but if uploaded through catalog they will end up un-ordered in the acatalog folder.

A solution is to use an FTP program to upload the images, then you can place them where you want them to match the structure on your local machine

As I understand it you can use an image anywhere on your system as a product image so you could order them into different folders on your catalog system. Try it with a few images and see if it works.

However when you upload the site ALL images, regardless of where they came from on your Catalog system, are placed in the acatalog directory on the web server and this can cause you to have a very big directory.

I've got a site with 3,500 images and this works OK but it must have some impact on server response time.

        Thanks guys

It worked ok. As you said it, picked up the files from the local PC and dumped them all into the Acatalog directory. Works a treat.

        Cheers
