    Extended info page rankings

I am getting a little concerned that my Extended Info Pages, which I am using as single product pages, do not seem to be ranked by Google at all in their listings.

Searching on particular phrases brings up the Home page or the Multi product section page on the rankings but never seems to list the Single product page (extended info page opening in same window).

Have I missed somehting in the way it is set-up?

I know from searching the forum that using Extended Info Pages generates different opinions regarding SEO but I assumed it did not blank it out completely?

As an example the following page does not list at all in google when searching using the product name (other than it appears under Google Products/Base).

    http://www.quantumelectronics.co.uk/...og/qav5-1.html

Has anyone got anything that will point me in the general direction of where I am going wrong (using v8)?

Your link from the parent of that page is a normal HTML link wrapped around the product image. E.g.
    Code:
    <a href="qav5-1.html"><img src="QAV5-1.jpg" id="im-a242" border="0" width="125" height="135" alt="Q Acoustics Q-AV 5.1" /></a>
I can't see why search engines wouldn't be able to follow that.

P.S. Nice to see a couple of my patches in use.

Spiders dont follow image links - also look at your page titles they are all wrong.

Using ext info for single product pages is SEO suicide IMO

        Spiders don't follow image links
I don't see any actual prohibition in Google about using image links. However it would be a good idea to have a text link as well as the image one.

It been know in the design/seo world for many years that spiders ignore image links which is why you will generally see that a site using image links for its main navigation will also have text links at the bottom of the page to allow spiders to follow the link and index the pages

Its not prohibited at all by google - after all if you want to build s navigation system that spiders cannot follow then its up to you. Google are only really concerned with features/methods that try to spam the algo.

            But Google does say:

Create a site with a clear hierarchy and text links. It should be possible to reach every page from at least one static text link.

I thought that might be a problem but even Google don't state that is a problem. I put the page through their spider test on Analytics/Webmaster and it came out ok for spiders.

Not sure where that is being picked up from but it is the same on all the extended info pages.

I've noted that comment on a number of your posts before and I am starting to agree with it. What I can't understand is why, as the layout is the same, all the details/info you can put in are the same, so what is different?

Back to your problem. If you go to your Product Details / Extended Information and check the Display by / Text link, you'll have both image and text links. Wait some time and see if your pages are now indexed.

You could do the lot at once by opening ActinicCatalog.mdb in Access, selecting the Product table and setting the entire column bDisplayByLink to -1. Backup first!

What version of Access does Actinic use as I have Office 2007 and I am not sure what version to save the database as?

I use Access 2002 and it reports that ActinicCatalog.mdb is Access 2000 format.
