Finally got support to look at the issues. They were unable to replicate the fault so it obviously could not have happened.

We have now rolled back to an earlier version (3 open windows) and are looking at open source solutions (a wooden wedge to keep the doors open).

You might want to look at getting the plugin (fan) for the earlier versions

Makes a pleasant change from the usual hot air with people venting their frustrations. It shows we are doing our bit to combat global warming.

I am astonished to see the progression of this thread. We started with a report of hardware failure aircon v8 is a processor folks, not a piece of software, we have progressed to blaming the OS.

I'd be looking at the support infrastructure. Was the motherboard (roof) sound to start with? Were the connectors of the correct size and type? You can't use a floppy drive installation screw to mount a power supply, and it does sound more as if this was the scenario.

                          I blame user error
The product was thoroughly tested before general sale

Probably to save our own necks with disgruntled customers

We actually now have "carpet savers" .. if that's the correct name for them ... big rubberised plastic sheets that sit under the office chairs ... we can whizz around the desk and get to the files in a blur of speed now (and protect the carpets at the same time LOL).

Speaking of chairs .. we had a supplier in office today who refused to sit on the leather chairs in the board room (really nice, comfortable chairs) so we gave her a very rickety garden chair with no padding
