the colour change bugged me the most
colour change is bizarre to say the least
Again, it's interesting that you remark on that, because the colour scheme is essentially the same as the old site. The only changes are the colour of the LH side bar (coloured to match the header graphic, which has hardly changed), and the background colour of the menus (the old colours would not have worked in the new design). The roundels on the home page are new - but they follow the same colour scheme as the panels that preceded them.

We will be testing quite a few changes over the next few weeks. Some of the design work undoubtedly won't measure up to the high standards that you guys set, but it's not going to be permanent. Initially, we are primarily testing functional and layout changes and watching their effect on site visitors. When we have settled on the most effective style, we will look to see what needs polishing in the visual design.

Many thanks for your comments - they are all valuable.

the change of colour is was refering to is when you click on the 4 circles - ie the blue one that says build your own online store and the page goes blue, Epos sends you to a red page, this is where the left nav doesn't change and jars somewhat, the change of page colour frm pink to primary is shocking to my eyes. (sunglasses are required first thing in the morning)

But since we are talking about actinics pink trademark colour - i've always hated that anyway!!

Believe it or not, the old scheme fitted that description exactly! - except that there were rectangular panels instead of coloured circles.
        :-)

We actually introduced different colours for the EPOS, web designer, and DIY or 'self-build' product pages when v8 was released. But I think colouring the left hand side bar has made the difference a lot more noticeable - for good or bad, time will tell.

I tend to agree that the contrast between the stronger colours and the infamous 'actinic pink' is a bit stark, particularly on screen. For some reason the pink comes out a lot stronger in print. We actually darkened it up quite a lot for the web site. But if you take it too far you tend to end up either with purple, or a disgusting brown colour. Either way it loses it's distinctiveness - which is it's sole benefit, and its one redeeming feature...

I went to the support page, and like you, had to try to find the shades so that I could concentrate on the content.
I always thought that red seemed to hint at some kind of warning (traffic lights etc) - perhaps this is the thought process behind using this on the support pages (only) - couldn't find it on other pages

in my opinion - get rid of the red fast, it does NOT do anything for the deisgn at all. - there's nothing wrong with the colour of the standard pages - why change something that seems to "hang together"

Change for the sake of it imho.

Did you win a bet when you included that (dartboard size) red button?
