Child boards have to be accessible from the main page, ideally they are indented and sit underneath the main forum. Sometimes they are even listed underneath with just hyperlinks, so they don't use up too much space.

Anything but this crappy layout at the moment. Grr i've bit my lip for about a week now, i'm about to let loose. You git you started it. Vodka time.

          http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/

do you mean like its divided up into sections, e.g. vBulletin Announcements and Discussions, vBulletin Sales, vBulletin 3.6 etc with forums listed under each? so here it would be something like

Actinic v8 (heading, not a forum)
          -- installing & upgrading
          -- HTML & CSS
          -- Cart, Checkout & PSPs & Shipping
          -- Misc

          Actinic v1-7
          -- Misc

          Others
          -- EPOS
          -- MOTO
          -- Express

          AOB
          -- Wish List
          -- Ebusiness Issues
          -- Chit Chat

or do you mean like the first section where it has "sub forums"?

          p.

PS This forum has just broken the world record for `scrolling down by users`.

I agree too, the way they are currently being displayed, will render them pretty useless in their current state.
i also have been keeping quiet, the current layout is complete tosh.

Someone (CD) needs to go through all the exsisting v8 posts and either put them into a relevent sub forum or delete them. This exercise will also serve to decide on the correct format of sub forums.

as long as the big all encompassing forum remains no-one will use the others. Its simple....

Personally I don't see the point in having sub forums for anything except 8.

I prefer the above setup Paul, but either way would be a vast improvement.

Why have a skip and have office bins around it - that is the current joke we are looking at. How did things and how do things go so wrong - it's a chuffing forum, just a forum - i'm off to my simple world for a while again.

100% agree and to some extent the horse has bolted for V8 already, but what we are trying to do here is get a future proof setup, get us used to it, so we are not trying to learn v9 and the forum.

When you have little experience in something, you should contact somebody that does, why do they not contact somebody who could set the forum up in a day - i vote for Paul, he seems to know what he is on about.

Oh but we will have to have a management meeting to see if said forum privileges can be spread into the common folk who run the bloody thing.....so backward at times.
