At first I thought that Actinet was not for me, a small company with relatively few users, as we have already purchased the multi-site, multi-user version of Actinic. One user is an administrator and other people are order processors.
However, there are times when people are out of the office and need to access and implement orders. We were thinking of purchasing another key for our laptop. However, at the moment, our PCs are locally networked and we were not sure if the laptop would be able to access the orders when out and about.
So Actinet may be an option:
My queries are:
For a non-tecchie hardware wise, how would a laptop on the road access the local network? I know it's been asked before, but we ARE the network admin! (Just using a Netgear hub) Permissions? What?
We would not necessarily need to implement the orders in the system on paper/Actinet immediately (ie update the orders/deliveries etc) as long as we see the orders and can get them out to the customers. However, at some point, we would need to do this later (as well as transfer to Quickbooks) - are the downloaded orders still available to download again at a later date through the local network to finish off the paperwork - or to transfer?
For multiple URLs, has the discount been decided?
As I have not investigated it yet, but it will be essential, if someone already has multi-user, multi-site Actinic, would that already work remotely with a laptop? If not, then would Actinet be a requisite for internet based access? If yes, is Actinet more value for money than an extra user key? And why?
Thanks, and good luck!
