I used to holiday in Grimethorpe when I was a kid and I remember playing out of the street with my cousins when this little lad asked me in all seriousness if I was putting on a silly voice or if I always spoke like I that.
good, aren't they?
I have to admit that living here (or too long) has meant some phrases do slip out, from time to time, much to the disgust of my high flying London-dwelling sister who rolls her eyes and tuts when she realises my public schooling results in a "areet miduck?" from me
LOL
I do have to watch myself in her company!
Mind you, it's not as funny as listening to my Mum speak "yorkshire" in her devonshire accent!

Hmmmm maybe that could be a new accent then "dorkonshire" or maybe "yovenshire"
I must admit one of my mates "op tat way" loses me with his errrmmm catchy sayings, mind you we have some banter, he refers to me as southern softy and him as a northern monkey
