I used to holiday in Grimethorpe when I was a kid and I remember playing out of the street with my cousins when this little lad asked me in all seriousness if I was putting on a silly voice or if I always spoke like I that.

I have to admit that living here (or too long) has meant some phrases do slip out, from time to time, much to the disgust of my high flying London-dwelling sister who rolls her eyes and tuts when she realises my public schooling results in a "areet miduck?" from me

I do have to watch myself in her company!
Mind you, it's not as funny as listening to my Mum speak "yorkshire" in her devonshire accent!
