I 'think' the newer Norton solutions are much slower than the old 7.5 so it's probably more apparent for those users.

I often wonder about antivirus stuff and what would happen if a particular AV solution was infiltrated by, for example, the Russian mafia. It would make 25 million child benefit records appear trivial (which, according to Jeremy Clarkson, it is http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7174760.stm )Elysium:Online - Official Accredited SellerDeck Partner

I quite like the Norton Anti Spam that puts spam in a spam folder within outlook express but NOD32 does not appear to do this, and unwated spam still end s up in the inbox.
I'm not quite sure how it files away the spam - we use Eudora and NOD32 Spam module only works with Outlook. I think you designate a folder for it IIRC.
It still scans all incoming and outgoing emails though as it's a POP3/SMTP scanner
NB - the new product from ESET is now called Smart Security as it combines AV, SPAM, ADawareness, BOT watch and FirewallKind Regards

I ripped NAVCorp 7.5 from wife's laptop last night to replace it with KAV - what a mission, I really battled to get it out. Uninstalling including using Nortons own tools all failed miserably to get rid completely. In the end it was a manual tour through the registry deleting all relevant keys that finally removed it (not to mention about 10 reboots). (Note to others - if you intend removing NAV then make sure you also remove the Symantec LiveUpdate)
After that KAV went in easily. I can see definite speed improvements on that pc compared to when using NAV. (Firewall is the standard free ZA)

My name is Martin.
I was a user.
I have now been Norton free for 1hour and 5 mins (I hope...)
Having cleaned the system
- remove Norton and Symantec Progs using Control Panel
- run Norton Removal Tool
- regedit to remove leftovers
and installed Kaspersky
all seems fine so far, but one thing did make me laugh.
After updating its database, and commencing a full system scan, Kaspersky set to work on its first task of catching its first spam email.....
.. one sent from Kasperky LAb Online Activation !!!!!
Luckily, I'd requested filing spam in a new folder for me to check, rather than just deleting it.
