    Download from here:
    http://www.kaspersky.co.uk/anti-virus_trial
Activate the software as trial then when it expires enter the licence key you bought at Amazon. (It's cheaper at Amazon). You then score an extra months subscription.

I think the AV only route was being suggested if you already have other stuff running to protect your sheeet (like Zone Alarm).

Personally, I'm quite happy with the full Internet Suite.

Download only will probably cost you more (nuts I know - its just thats its hard to beat Amazons discounts), but I would guess is available direct from Kaspersky
(incidently, getting rid of Norton does mean that you lose the smug pic of Peter Norton from your software box....its replaced by the smug pic of Eugene Kaspersky )

ps. I will now stop answering for Duncan

OK, this Kaspersky thing is being overly cautious on my emails.

The Actinic message alerts (from posting here just now) have all been marked as SPAM.

So how does one train the spam filter?

The SPAM is ending up in a file in Outlook Express that I set up.

Have tried clicking the 'NOT Spam' flag thingy, that Kasp had added to my Outlook window, but the mail remains in the folder.

What am I doing wrong, or do I have to move the spam that I have cleared as non-spam, to a 'clean' folder myself?

          Hi.

          I'm Andrew

          And I..

          I...

          I...

          was a user too.

I feel so free now that I've got rid of Norton. I have so much more energy. I get things done so much faster. I can communicate with who I want to and when I want to. I wake up quicker in the mornings. Oh! What a joy to be finally free. Thank you, Actinic Community, for helping me see the light.

Just one question, though... what am I going to do with all the spare time on my hands now that I'm no longer waiting for things to happen?

Porn is the key to spare time, plus it tests out the anti virus solution.

I'm not sure whether to have the full suite or just the anti virus, i hate options.

Lee's offline now - probably going through the ten reboots to get rid of Norton.

'kin Norton you won't see that crap anywhere near my system ever, but fk me they dont make this installation easy, ive rebooted about 14 times. Geez i might just go back to a ghost image and go play golf, this is junk at the moment.

                              wtf are you lot doing????

It didn't take that many reboots to get rid of my NIS2006 (hahahaha they all laugh, when I come back tomorrow reporting that it never really moved off my system).

Before you start, disable Norton, and unplug from the internet (dl the Norton Removal Tool first).

Check you don't have any other Norton progs installed, as these will prevent you from removing live update.

Control panel add/remove - Norton AV, then Symantec Live update messages (if its there), then Symantec LiveUpdate - reboot after each removal.

Download the Norton Removal Tool and run that - reboot.

Search the registry for Norton and Symantec (to be honest, mine appeared pretty much clean after the above 2 steps - I only found one Symantec key).

Check mydocuments (I found a Symantec folder which was just a record of the software key - deleted it anyway).

Emptied the recycle bin, and one final reboot.

Last time I tried all this fannying around, I didn't have the Norton Removal Tool, and that did take loads of registry searching and reboots, but the tool seems to have done an OK job this time (make sure you get it from Symantecs own site, as there are obsolete versions kicking around elsewhere).

those just swallow up all your data and anything else that you haven't got around to backing up.

                                I wouldn't worry too much

might be an idea to close all your other progs (including all that porn your editing in photoshop), whilst carrying out your deep cleanse
