    LogMeIn launch an iPhone application

Rather than using the web interface, this looks pretty trick.

    https://secure.logmein.com/products/ignition/iphone/

Pricey (for an app) at £17.99 maybe but it's a small price to pay if the access is good.
Haven't tried it yet but wanted to share, in case folk didn't know

Just got the same email as you Tracy - could be a killer app if you could run your site and process ordes from your iPhone. Good for designers too - imagine being able to fix a clients site from your iPhone

      I know
I got quite excited when I read it (ask Kathy, she was on the receiving end of it LOL)
It certainly has the potential to be a neat piece of kit though.
Will investigate further tomorrow (new office internet permitting )

Every day the iPhone gets better and better. If logmein works as well as the screen shots look I know several clients of mine will be changing phones pdq

I'm very interested in any feedback on this Tracey as I use Logmein free quite a lot both myself and with clients.

Here's the iPhone Ignition manual if anyone's interested:

So far I'm very very pleased with this phone. Just wish the O2 coverage was as good as it was with vodafone.

There's another one in the iPhones app store - search for "Jaadu VNC". I think I'd try the Logmein version first, but at least there's a choice.....

There are a few vnc apps, I've tried a couple but never been overly excited by them.
It's the known simplicity of logmein as a computer based version that makes this app so potentially good.
              We'll see, I guess

Duncan, I agree about the O2 signal. I have no signal here at home!

I'm thinking about getting an iPhone, not sure of the best way to get on though, ie: payg or contract and am wondering if there are better options out there.

I use logMeIn as well ( not iPhone app though) and am impressed by it.

I looked carefully at PAYG and contract and decided upon contract because there are additional features that are only available on contract such as visual voicemail. Also on contract you get unlimited internet data usage included.

Chuffed with the phone though - the software's in a league of it's own.

The only downsides I see are things like not being able to open some office documents - nor edit or create any. The battery life with WiFi and BT always on (as well as lots of playtime) is quite short and I have to charge it almost daily. Additionally in my area the O2 signal is not as good as I'd hoped - worth checking with someone else's phone where you would most likely use it and you need WiFi available to get the most out if it.

Browsing, email and many other apps (free) are very good, not to mention all the usual iPod features included.

I'm not 100% happy, but certainly converted.

                    Hey Tracey,

You might have converted my Pat to iPhones, I suggested at the weekend that we both get one and he said nope, it couldn't do quite enough, however with LogMeIn, he might be converted.

How do you type with an iPhone, is it the same as evil texting or is there a keyboard like a blackberry.

It has a soft qwerty keyboard - much better than 'evil texting' but may take a little getting used to if you have big fingers. I'm sure Tracey uses the keyboard much more than me - I'm a talker not a texter.

Some people prefer keys like the Blackberry, some don't. I can only use the iPhone's virtual keys so I'm very happy with it.

We have iPhones on contract - £35 per month for 600 minutes, which includes other mobiles, so if you phone them a lot you will find it very good value.

Can certainly confirm that Traceys excitement was immense - and I found the whole thing very boring!!!

However I am now thinking about an getting an iPhone (see new post!)

Well, it's a lot more than a phone - that's the point. Even if it didn't get a signal at all I would still carry one!
