i must admit if everyone followed my advise then Actinic would rarely become stable. I've always considered an 01,02, 03 patch level nothing more than beta grade.
With the exception of v8 i've tended to stay away from these patch levels, for an easy life it is better to stay where you are ie 6.15, 7.07 or 8.53 before going 9 (possibly 04 maybe 05 - 04 hasn't been out for long enough)

Fergus has it exactly on the money, Yes to API, Yes to plugins in PHP/AJAX and yes to reminders within the software to keep people up to date.

The later will need to be managed as i am aware that i am contradicting myself , patches need to have a strong message along with yes/no do you want the patch and yes/no i don't want anymore reminders. Version upgrades need to be very clear its not free/free to cover subscribers.

At least if you remind people of patches, most peeps will stay up to date and be unaware of a lot of bugs, and less people will take my approach and opt out of the software until its stable thus increasing participant levels in beta grade patches.

I can confirm that Google Checkout will be in v10. The coding has already been done which is why I can be so confident. I should clarify that it couldn't be included in an earlier release because of the scale of the changes, which is down to the way that both Actinic and Google work.

As has been said earlier in this thread, Google Checkout is already available within Actinic Express. Unfortunately, we couldn't re-use the code from Express as it's a totally different implementation from the Catalog/Business/Enterprise. However, obviously we were able to use some of the experience that we gained with the first implementation.

Incidentally, it's worth noting that we've recently reduced the cost of Express. The aim is to have the lowest overall cost entry level solution that is also really easy to use. It's now £1 for the first month then £18 per month thereafter, with no sign up fee. When you consider that you can also get an integrated PSP service (Actinic Payments) for only £100 per annum for 800 transactions, I think there's some pretty good value there.

      Hope that's not too salesy

It would be wrong if you did not mention it

Thanks for clarification, i know things go wrong and dont always appear but this is a long standing prickly subject and glad it is still around.

Would it be wrong for me to ask when you expect v10 to reach beta - nothing concrete, versions used to be around the 18 month mark and by my guestimation i recon this would be september onwards with betas possibly in august?

Lets hope they ask for about 500+ large snapshots including 50% mulit user for their beta inhouse testing prior to public beta testing and really sort out v10.0.0 first go so v10.0.1 is just minor bugs

              Testing V10.

that's what we really need, test to death and make sure the bugs are (as far as possible) squashed before release. I would rather wait an extra 6 months and get bug free software.
