You need to use a hierarchical import for this.
Use Windows Explorer to locate the file SampleHierarchicalCatalogImportFile.txt in your site folder. The file can be opened with a text editor such as Notepad but may be easier to read if you import it into MS Excel (Data | Get External Data | Import Text File).
Add your 'User Definable Variable' name to the relevant 'header' row. For example, if you want to add in a 'product' user definable variable then you would add the name to the 'Header:Product' row etc.
Note: v8 (and above) comes with a utility to convert a flat-file into a hierarchical import file and will be able to include your 'user definable variables'. The utility can be found in the SellerDeck installation folder and is called 'FlatFileConvertor.exe'.
