When a payment goes through all checks, am I safe in shipping the order?

Sellerdeck Payments by Opayo and Sellerdeck Payments by NMI will be sunsetting on 31st May 2023. On the 1st of June, these payment gateways will no longer be available to process new transactions. We will maintain the service for an additional month to allow for refunds and downloading of reports.

Sellerdeck Payments by Opayo and Sellerdeck Payments by NMI are being replaced by SellerdeckPay powered by ClearAccept:

Responsibility for determining whether orders are fraudulent rests with you, not SellerDeck Payments or the acquiring bank, although the rules are somewhat better for 3D secure transactions. It is your risk when you choose to ship an order.

It is crucial to explicitly decide on what orders will and won’t be shipped so that fraud can be kept under control.

It may well be that for orders in the 'grey' zone of possible fraud, additional checks are required which might include emailing or phoning the customer, checking the customer resides at the address using services like 192.com, asking the customer to fax through proof of their name and address, asking for a payment by cheque and so on. Many merchants have discovered that putting an additional step into the process like this can virtually eliminate fraud. Once the situation is explained, genuine customers are happy to help, but fraudsters generally don’t wish to engage in a conversation, as it increases the risk for them.
