We have had a key resource dedicated to resolving the problems highlighted in this thread.

The good news is that we have found what we believe to be the principal cause of the problem. It's a bug deep in Microsoft code. There is already a Microsoft fix available but it's in a maintenance release of their development environment which is one forward from the one that we are currently using.

(For anyone interested, here is the technical reference https://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/Sh...05371&SiteID=1 ).

So we have to upgrade our development environment. We will re-build 9.0.2 using this new development environment and make it available to all customers working in a multi-user environment as soon as possible. The next maintenance release will also include some further fixes and enhancements in this area.

We did do a lot of testing of the Sync server, but we never saw this particular problem, so we need to review how the testing was conducted.

Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience caused.

We will provide an update on progress as soon as we can.

    Chris

      chris -Actinic

thank you for letting us know that Actinic is listening to our problems, I was starting to think that we would never get multi-user to funtion properly.

Our sync server problems occur when we use the search within the moto form or interact with the product database in any way i.e upload, modify product etc.

Which is similar to chris's problems I belive.

The strange thing for us we can process orders all day and we do not get the sync server problem !!!!

Is this the type of problem your bug fix will correct ??

I must admit our Synch Server errors are few and far between now. I solved it by putting the Sync Server on a different machine... seems to work fine now.

the seperate machine - which operating system is it using ?

we are getting the sync server problems when the server machine (windows vista) is standalone not connected to any slave pc's.

I am just trying to arrange to have a test version (of just executables etc) to be sent to the main contact for this issue in support so that a couple of people can try the fix out. This won't be an official release and will require a bit of technical knowledge to install (although we will supply instructions). It can be rolled back if it doesn't work or causes other problems.

The fix will only apply to people currently on v9.0.1.

We are also working on an official 9.0.2 version.

I've asked the person in support who is dealing with various poeple with the problem to look at this thread.

Hopefully they will be in touch.

good news just tested the update and it appears to fix the sync server problems. Could not test on our live system as we are 9.02 but on our test system we are now able to

add to cart after searching for a product
                    upload the site

which we could not do before as actinic would always crash the the sync server error message

                    so far so good

Well it looks like the update broke it for me!

Have been "testing with 901" which seemed to work OK.

This weekend as one of several jobs planned to do 902 and go live.

Applied 902 to server (W2003 bang up to date with static IP).

I can connect but now when I try and do an upload it gets to "Checking search indices" and give me an error pane "Communication with the synchronisation server has failed. You must restart Actinic" and when I click on OK it crashes.

                            Maybe but I didn't know I had a problem until I upgraded to 9.0.2.

The temporary fix is for 901 only, not 902.

I am not using any fix.

9.0.1 worked fine for me. Because I had been beta testing I had some problems installing and had to do reg and file cleaning on the server and client. Anyhow 9.0.1 connected to the server OK and couldn't find any problems.

So this weekend I planned to go live with V9, upgraded to 9.0.2, reinstalled various add ons and went for one last test upload. That is when I got the connection error.

After V8 I cannot begin to tell you how annoyed I am / we are with V9 failing at the first hurdle. The sense of deja vu is overwhelming!
