    Child sections only in sidebar

I have a feeling this has been covered somewhere but from the threads I've found I can't seem to get a straight answer.

I am designing our new website with a megamenu, I would expect nearly everyone to only use the megamenu to get to their desired product pages. However on the section pages that have no products and just child sections I want the sidebar to show a list of all child sections in the section (not the other top level sections or their child sections) and i will remove them from the central content area of the page. How would I go about doing this, I can see how to show all top level sections but not cild section of the section you are in. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Ben

    Hi there,
We do this on a number of our sites and it works quite well.

    Tierneys Gifts
Here the section opens dependent on the section the customer is in.

    International Craft
For this one we adapted the code to only display the child sub sections within this area.

Both are based on a plugin supplied by Teclan. I think they call it 'Expanding Menu'. (Link below).

They don't have it on their site although they can sell this individual element. I hope this helps.

For the sidebar to show the same child sections as the central area, you could use child section list code in your layout.
      See code here: http://community.sellerdeck.com/showthread.php?t=25154
