error "Data Type Mismatch In Criteria Expression"

    Hi all

finally got moving putting this site together

    Now I got another problem ! !

Moving items around in my on-line shop in V14, I'm sometimes seeing the
    error

If, for example, I want to cut and paste an item or section, when I right
    click and cut, I get

"Data Type Mismatch In Criteria Expression"

It's in a box with a yellow exclamation mark in a triangle, with an 'ok'
    button

If I click 'ok', the box goes, then when I go to paste the item, I get the
box again, I click 'ok' and the paste appears to have worked

If I pick up 4 items, the I have to click the 'ok' box 4 times, when I paste

I've tried compacting the database, completely un-installing V14 and
re-installing it, and importing a snapshot back

    Any ideas anyone ??

I have the same problem too. Tried compacting database etc. Its quite annoying! Have you found a fix?

Compacting is unlikely to help for this one. The error usually refers to the syntax being used to access a certain field of data being incorrect for that data type (i.e. date, number, text etc). Either you have managed to create illegal content in one of the fields, or it's a bug whereby Sellerdeck is using the wrong syntax for a field under certain conditions.

Does it happen in all cases? If not, can you establish a pattern (e.g. only when the product has certain fields populated?)

Also, try copying a product known to produce this error and then pasting it as a new product (not a duplicate). Check all the fields for discrepancies between the two products which might help identify the field which is causing the problem.

(Obviously report to Sellerdeck also in case it is a known bug)

I found no patten to it got it any time I moved or deleted anything

I got little help from support so I did this

Export the site as a csv file

Inported a snapshop taken before the error first showed

        Inported the csv file

after doing that never saw the error again

got to say not what a expect from software costing over £500 to upgrade to and £1000 as a new user

            Hello,

I looked into error you were having when moving an item in the content tree and have found out that this is actually a bug, so it will continue to happen.

However, Development have explained there is a work around for this to get it to stop occurring. If you go to the Home on the content tree, and select the fragment Home Page Carousel | Marketing | Untick Enabled and select Apply.

Now try dragging and dropping an item. That error should not occur again. When you are finished moving items, just go back to Home Page Carousel | Marketing | Tick Enabled and Apply.

This should work and make it easier for you to drag and drop sections.

By the time I got that info I had done the fix above

Thanks for that David.. I ended up doing the same as you, importing a snapshot.

                  Still occurs

If you change the image on any product or section hat is included on the carousel without updating the carousel entry you will still get the mismatch error. I was confused to start with but this thread pointed me in the right direction.

OK am I having a dumb blonde moment here? I am having the same problem as above, just started today. I do not understand the instructions above "and select the fragment Home Page Carousel" - where is this fragment?

                      Kind Regards

How did you fix it Goz? I can't see anything amiss in the database.

You should find it by going to the top of the content to find the home page, then click on the + to see the fragments that are there. One of them should be called 'Carousel'.

I guess the 'known' bug is due to a type mismatch in that carousel fragment and if you don't have that fragment then I'd say the chances are you probably have a type mismatch happening somewhere else.

All I can suggest is that you try compacting the database or maybe doing the fix referred to above. i.e. export site CSV > Import an earlier snapshot before the problem occured > Import site CSV.

As always, make sure you have a backup before trying anything that might cause more problems.
