Unable to connect to the synchronization server

    Hello,

We have a new laptop, and trying to set it up so that the second user can connect to the main Sellerdeck computer on the Network. But after the installation, when we try to open Sellerdeck, this error comes up:

"Sellerdeck was unable to connect to the synchronization server. Please check network connections and that the Synchronization server is running"

I searched the forums for an answer, and tried the suggestions below (none of them worked):
    1. Made sure the main computer was turned on before we tried to connect to it with the second one
    2. Turned off the firewalls on both machines so that we know it's not a port issue
    3. In addition to above, added Catalog.exe as an exception to the firewall settings (just in case)
    4. Made sure the network share was still connected. Opened 'Windows Explorer' and made sure we could access the shared drive
    5. Made sure the SellerDeck Synchronisation Server is running on the main machine. Then stopped it and restarted it.

Just to note: We are able to connect to the main computer using a different laptop (which was set up a while ago, and it works fine).

I would very much appreciate any feedback/suggestions. Thank you in advance.

Yes, I can browse the folders that hold the Sellerdeck documents, images and files.

Yes, we do have a second user license for the second laptop.

I seem to remember encountering a similar problem when we were setting up another laptop. I think we had to change a Sellerdeck file (could be .dll) and modified the path in it. But, I could be mistaken, and this could be related to another problem.

Do you have any other suggestions ?

Thanks for your reply Chris. How do we change to Multi user options on the new computer? It won't even let me open Sellerdeck. When I try, it comes up with that error code, then shuts down altogether.

If you have MS Access installed on new pc open the "Setupinfo" table and find sName 'sSynchronizationServerURL' (Id no. 247) - the 'sData' field should contain the IP address of system running Synchronisation Server

This did the trick! I had tried everything even copied ProgramData and Program Files folder contents into the new laptop and changed the config file (which had worked before). But once I modified the database, it started to work again!

I do wonder what might have caused this database change suddenly (cause it was working fine before, and then one day it stopped). I did not recognize the IP number that was in the database either.

But it works now, so that's what matters. Thank you so much for all your help and advice everybody!
