    Difference between Cut & Delete

I know delete just marks the product and you then have to purge but is there any other difference in the action except cut deletes it there and then

Delete marks it for deletion then purge removes it from the database.

Cut copies it to the clipboard (then you paste it in elsewhere).

Don't know what happens if you don't follow 'cut' with 'paste' though.......

It goes to the same place money goes between different bank accounts

You mean into the banks high-interest revenue generation accounts?

It stays in the clipboard until a subsequent "cut" replaces it, you empty clipboard, or you shut down.

So the cut is a faster method we all agree, but words like "cut" or "the snip" always make me very wary of offering to use them

So if your cut it without pasting it, you will delete it, but if you delete it, it will que it for deletion upon purging and if you undelete it will put it back...?

            hmmm...!

              correct, yes!

So if you want to permanently delete, quicker, then cut rather than delete, as Chris said.

But if you cut it instead of deleting it, you cannot uncut it as there is no uncut, but you can still paste it, unless you have cut something else, after you first cut it

Whichever method you use, you still need to compact to get Access to finally release the record space.
