Error 500: Site was working and now isn't

    Hello

The site www.windmillsoft.com was working correctly, but now is not. The catalog scripts are giving a 500 internal server error. Other scripts external to the catalog are still working normally.

No changes have been made at the client end, and the server provider says no changes have been made there.

I have tried uploading backups, compacting the database, purging and refreshing the website and changing the script id. All cgi-bin permissions are 755.

Any advice would be appreciated. We are using Actinic Catalog version 10.0.2.

    Thanks

Try running the network test (Web / Network Setup / Test) and report back.

I'd also check to make sure the hosting area you are on has not reached any limits, particularly disk space.
If you have not changed anything then it would indicated a server issue to be honest........worth chasing the hosting company again to recheck for "updates" e.g. perl module updates, rather than checking for "changes"....

It gets to Testing CGI script settings and times out with
"The test script failed to execute on the web server. The error could be caused by several things. Check:
        - the 'Path to the Perl shell'
        - the 'CGI script extension'
        - the 'Path to CGI-BIN'
        - the 'CGI-BIN URL'
        - the amount of web space left on your server
        - if your server is configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts
        - the permissions on the server:"

        Disk space is ok.

Then it has to be a host issue. Who is the host?

          Edit

I see it's EUKhost. DO your setttings match these: http://community.sellerdeck.com/showthread.php?t=42126

I'd also check permissions on the acatalog folder just in case. IIRC one of the first things the scripts will do is write a session file to the acatalog folder and they might fall over if blocked.

                When you say:

Other scripts external to the catalog are still working normally.
does this mean there are other perl scripts that are running OK?

The settings are the same apart from
Use Passive ftp transfers - not ticked
path to perl shell - /usr/bin/perl not /usr/local/bin/perl
                  use enhanced ftp - ticked

I have tried changing the 3 settings above, but on running the test still get the same message: The test script failed to execute on the web server etc.

File permissions are 644 in the acatalog folder.

Yes - in a cgi-bin sub-directory a newsletter subscription script is running as normal.

Then I'd try a full purge and refresh if you haven't already.

Have you compared permission settings on the actual script files as well as the folders?. I.e. compared newsletter script permission to an Actinic script permission?

Poppy, I don't know if you have Cover but if you do you can take advantage of free emergency hosting from SellerDeck.
