Corrupt Scripts on upload and website purge and refresh.

    Hi there,

My v.10 has been quite happily working away using Windows 7 for some time now, until just a few days ago when I tried to upload new products to my website.

    The web address is www.procutvinyl.co.uk

Every time I try an upload, it uploads the changes to the website, but I'm met with the same error message as shown below:

I have tried a website purge and refresh and the same error message appears, but it does continue to upload and refresh the site.

If I press the download order button or now try to run the network test, I get a similar error message that reads as follows:

Actinic received a server error from the web server. The CGI scripts are not executing properly on the server. The error could be caused by several things. Check:
    - the 'Path to the Perl shell'
    - the 'CGI script extension'
    - the 'Path to CGI-BIN'
    - the 'CGI-BIN URL.
    - the amount of web space left on your server
    - if your server is configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts
    - the permissions on the server:

On Linux/Unix based servers the permissions should be:
    cgi-bin (755) – drwxr-xr-x
Online Store Folder (777) – drwxrwxrwx
On Windows based servers (need to be checked with the hosting company):
    IIS
    cgi-bin = read/execute
    Online Store Folder = read/write/execute
    NTFS
cgi-bin = Catalog's FTP account needs 'Change' permissions on the directory
Online Store Folder = Catalog's FTP account needs 'Change' permissions on the directory AND the IUSR_<servername> account needs to have 'Change' permissions on the directory

Run Web | Configure Web Site Details... to review your web site configuration.

So I run the web | configure web site details which ticks everything, but another error message appears on the mail server part, yet I have not changed any of my network settings as everything was working just fine until just a few days ago.

I have contacted my web host 34sp.com yesterday morning who said they would have their engineers look in to it, but so far nothing on how to resolve this.

I've tried to import the site back in using a previous back up, but the same issues still occur, I have even gone as far as removing the program and re-installing it in Windows 7 and then importing back in my latest backup of the site as well a many previous copies.

I really need to get this sorted asap as customers are contacting me trying to place orders, but obviously cannot do so at the moment and god knows how many more sales I could be loosing because of the issue.

Sorry for the novel, but I've tried to cover everything I know about it.

Has anyone experienced this and may know of a way of resolving it? I would be extremely grateful for any input.

    Many thanks

Just had this back from 34sp.com

    Hi Kev,

My apologies for the delay in the reply. I'm not sure why your website is failing to be honest looking at the information in the log.
It seems that the script is trying to include files that are not present on the server.

[Sat Mar 28 15:25:36 2015] [error] [client 90.195.209.187] (2)No such file or directory: exec of '/var/www/vhosts/procutvinyl.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000001.pl' failed, referer: http://www.procutvinyl.co.uk/
[Sat Mar 28 15:25:36 2015] [error] [client 90.195.209.187] Premature end of script headers: ss000001.pl, referer: http://www.procutvinyl.co.uk/

I understand that your product catalogue is updated from a desktop application, is there any way I could reproduce the error from your website?

Have you checked the permissions set on the web server folders? These can often be reset by the host during an upgrade or disk recovery.

        Hi, thanks for the suggestion,

I have checked them and all appear fine.

All the folders have the same permissions as above.

The odd thing is, the ss000001.pl file is on the server as well

That might just be the server techies having a play. Particularly if it's just the one file.

it's odd. I can't see any problems in your network setup and if the permissions are right then it should all run OK.

Sometimes, permission need to be 775 (rather than 755) on the cgi-bin. That's always worth trying.

The engineer from 34sp.com has confirmed the file was already there.

I've just changed the permissions to 775, unfortunately it hasn't solved the issue.

The engineer at 34sp.com has fixed the issue by restoring the cg-bin from a previous back up on the server

Result.......Great to be back operational again!

Thanks for the suggestions Mike and at least I can have my weekend back now!
