search not working

Using V8 Business

When I try to do a search on the site (using the normal search box)

I get this error

Unknown search command () found in file: ../acatalog/customsearch.fil

Have I deleated something that I should'nt have if so what do I need to restore ?

Hi David,

It possible it could be the customsearch.fil is corrupted , please go into Actinic, and go to "Help | Troubleshooting". Here click on "Web Site Purge and Refresh", now on the new window, tick only "Delete .cat and .fil", and click on "Delete and Refresh"

tried that no joy

I even tried a full site refresh when I upgraded to 8.0.1

Still get the same problem ....

any more ideas ?

When did you upgrade to v8.0.1? THe issue you mention was a bug in 8.0.0, where if you search for a User Defined Property with type='List of Choices', it throws and error on the site:
Unknown search command () found in file: ../acatalog/customsearch.fil

This was fixed for 8.0.1 thats why I am asking. If you just upgraded the 8.00 to 8.0.1, then can you try uninstalling and making afresh install of v8.0.1 and then let us know if the problem still occurs?

The way that I installed v 8.0.1 was to uninstall v 8.0.0 then delete the actinic v8 folder.

Then I installed a clean v8.0.1 then imported a snapshot of my v8.0.0 test site

i was not trying to search any customvar's just a standard search

I even tried using the search page

can do but it's around 30MB !!!

Just noticed that I did have a customvar set to searchable...

so I have

unticked searchable in the libary -> variables -> other -> the variable in question

did notice that when it was unticked it still showed up in the searchable properties list under search settings

I would have expected it to be removed ??

update:

after removing the searable customvar my search is working

Guess that the problem is still there
