    Anyone willing to test?

    Hi

I have just put a V8 website live (first link in my signature) and wondered whether anyone would mind doing a test order. If anyone is willing, then put in 1111222233334444 as your card number and "TEST ORDER" as your name please.

If anyone would like the same doing for their website when it goes live, then please let me know and i will be more than willing.

Perhaps we could have a set group of people who helped each other on testing? Anyone interested?

    Cheers

        Test Order

        Hi

I just did you a test order.

        Sorry, slight mess up

The order Name is "Derek" and not "test order" as you requested.

        The order number is DK25XH10001778

Noticed you dont a way of forcing the terms and conditions to be accepted before ordering. As I understand it, not having this a compulsory is against the guidelines. I had some work done by an internet solicitor, he did a very good job setting out terms for selling and also for use of the site.

If you want any further details on this then get in touch and I will sort this out for you.

Thanx for your help guys, really appreciate it.

The receipt hanging page has been an ongoing problem, on which Actinic answered that it was due to a security setting on the said PC's.

I never get this, it works fine and most people who try it do also.

There seems to be some setting somewhere on certain Pc's which make this happen. With Actinic saying it is user specific and them not being able to recreate the error and i canot also nor can i on 4 other systems, i was kind of stuck on what to do to be honest.

If anyone has any ideas, then please feel free to let me know. Once Actinic couldn't explain the issue, i guess i kind of accepted that there was little i could do.

Derek i would certainly appreciate some further information, in fact there may be a few of us who were unaware of this. Could this info be provided for all of the community as it may turn out to be very useful?

Once again, many many thanks guys.

The site owner thought all of his Xmas's had come at once!

                Cheers David.

I just wish i could solve the receipt hanging that some users experience.

Its unacceptable and has really peed me off today that something that is quite common can be swept under the carpet with the reason "its something on the users PC". If it is this common, then it must be an inherent flaw in something surely and must be a design or accessibility related problem.

I would never suggest using this method to capture orders it is famous for its problems - Actinic even suggest not using it. Much better to pay the £100 for the Actinic SSL.

I agree 100% Malcolm and up until Monday afternoon, the whole basis of this project was to upgrade to V8, add 500 more products, move hosting company and use SSL. For a number of reasons, the new hosting (which encompassed SSL being installed) has had to be shelved for 6 months until the existing hosting package runs out.

As the SSL had to be removed at this late stage, i am yet to investigate an alternative for 6 months. I have heard some good and some bad stories on these shared SSL's and i much prefer the option of having your own and not being redirected off site.

So i don't like the shared SSL option. More from things i've read than personal experience.

SSL (which would only be for 6 months) off the existing hosting company is very expensive.

Client isn't too keen on PROTX or alike as he likes to be in total control of when monies are taken and manage this himself.

The short of it is, that the last 36 hours were concentrated on making sure the new products and the V8 upgrade along with some site changes all went smoothly. The very late spanner in the works on the hosting side was incredibly annoying for all parties involved.

Would you recommend shared SSL? had any issues or problems yourself?

I'd probably go with Actinic shared SSL for the 6 months. It works, Its cheap, its easy.

Agreed - it is the best way forward. I use it on several site and have had no problems. The only downside is that you cannot customise the ssl page but thats a small bug which I hope Actinic will solve one day.

                          Jo/Malcolm

Thanks for the advice, i have had a read on the Actinic site and i agree this is probably the best way forward for the near future. I've sent details off to the owner, i'm sure he will go for it and i can finally get rid of that hanging receipt page!

                          Cheers

It will also solve the worse problem of people not seeing the java payment screen at all - at least when it hangs you get the order.

Any chance of a URL to a site with this shared SSL, so i can take a look?
