Check the business settings tab, the options tab includes settings for the product reference, you need to not be autogenerating product references and possibly also have the 'hide on website' option unticked. You be able to see from a preview of a report whether any settings changes you have made have worked.

What happens when you have an entire catalog of autogenerated numbers then switch autogenerate off? Do the numbers stay valid (they must do!), but do they then become visable on the reports etc? Then what if you switched them on again, does the autonumbering just carry on from where it was switched off at? So many questions lol.

They do.

When you add a product when autonumbering is switched on, Actinic looks through the current product references, finds the first gap in the list and uses that number, if there are no gaps it will use the highest plus one.

Thanks for the reply Jan, so thats a kind of workaround if you use autogeneration, if you need the numbers either on the site or the reports, just disable autogeneration, carry on with your daily needs (ooh err), then remember to switch it on again when you are about to list new products?

You can't really forget because you will be prompted for the ref if it is not enabled.
