    V8 Upload Issues

I don't know if anybody can help with this problem, but have not had much sucess via support either.

Main site is www.movie-stuff.co.uk, and has just under 4000 products on. On version 7.06 it will upload without any issues, apart from occasionally getting the FTP error and then continuing to upload via HTTP.

Version 8 - umm, time out errors with the FTP, then reverts to HTMP after 'x' attempts then crashes out or just hangs. Have reset the site up within actinic and no change. Also, other sites such as www.filmmagic.co.uk do exactly the same. The only way to upload (on a refresh) is to delete about 70% of the catalogue temp. then upload and slowly undelete sections until the full cat is up.

Time outs have been moded on actinic via advanced FTP and also on server (Server is hosted by Rackspace).

Even tried with no software running in background such as firewall and virus software - no change.

Have had server fully checked out by Rackspace support and also internet, nothing found. Also, deleted everything on site and started again, still no change.

But as stated above version 7 its aok, on 8 it aint.

    Sugestions?

    Many thanks, Karl.

    More info...

Just tried to upload from a completely clean system (new install etc inc Windows, and on a completely different PC) - it hasn't changed, version 7 uploads without any (none in fact) issues but 8 is causing the same symptoms.

This test was performed on our wholesale site (www.wholesalefilmcells.co.uk).

Many thanks for any suggestions please... As this has now gone too far...

there are other threads from other with the same problem ie v7 uploads but v8 does not.

I don't know the resolution, you may need to go through the v8 forum to find these posts

        Karl,

What exact version of 8 are you on? When last did you compact your Database in v8? Have you had a look at the error log ( Help | Troubleshooting | View error log ) ?

        Kind regards,

Are you doing a complete "refresh" on the V7 site rather than an update, as these are radically different and it will mimic far better the uploading of a new site?

Hi - down both including site update after complete refresh - it gets there in the end on 8. On 7 much smother, and no issues.

Also tried on a test site, with the same results after importing data.

I am getting a similar problem with 8.50 that I have just posted to devs.

Everything works fine in 7.5 and all previous versions to test location, V8.5 tests and Ipswitch work fine but 8.50 won't upload.

All I get is a flickering cursor (arrow and egg timer) and nothing. I can even work in Actinic while it is sitting there.

Uploads worked OK before 8.50 so this looks like a Beta problem?

                        Karl,

You need to raise a support ticket else call in support if you have a cover contract as we will need to take a closer look to check what is happening.

                        Kind regards,

Hi Bruce - done that, cant get this resolved.

Been in touch with Rackspace and they have put monitoring software on. What they have said is that Actinic is doing 'weird things' - trying to delete the acatalog directory, or create it when it already exists. There it stops and I get an FTP error which it will only get past after leaving the PC for a few minutes. Then it will prob happen again, and again, and again....

Passive errors etc are off, the time out errors both on out server and on acinic are set to maximum.

About to give up now - no matter who we talk to ie Actinic, Rackspace (linux server) or Blueyonder (10Meg conection) we get nowhere. 'There are no problems'... apart from Actinic doing weird things.

We also have some sites with only a few hundred products on and no problems - is Actinic able to handle sites properly when there are nearly 4000 products on?

Getting very, very fed up now....

                            One other thing just discovered'ish...

If the PC is reset we 'usually' (well, 7 times out of 10) can upload without any issues. However, if we try again on another site then the problems start.

Have also tried on another PC which is totally clean apart from Actinic, same problems.

Are you connecting via a router?

There were some posts a while ago where Actinic might occassionally fail on uploads where the connection was via a Netgear router (DG834's being troublesome if I remember correctly). Altering the MTU setting seemed to help.

If one of your other systems is a laptop, it might be worth connecting via another method and seeing what happens.
