    Software Confliction

    Greetings

I have been going through a process of elimination the last 2 weeks. We are having an issue with Actinic V7 software that we run our sister company on. It is a very strange issue and i will do my best to explain it and see if anyone out there has had the same thing.

The screen that displays the orders within actinic keeps refreshing itself every few seconds, which in turn means that we can't access the downloaded orders.

    I have:

    Compacted the database.
    Reinstalled the Actinic Software
    Upgraded to V7.0.7
Tried the database on other Computers
Tried to repair the database through the Actinic Repair Option
I have looked through the Error log file within Actinic with no luck
I have looked the computer management log file ( no luck)
Did a windows system roll back to a much earlier date (no luck)
    Uninstalled all new programs
Emailed the database to actinic and the development team said that there was nothing wrong.

I do reliase that this is very possibly not an actinic fault, but i'm tearing my hair out with this and just wondered if anyone out there has come across anything like it.

    Any comments appreciated..

    Thank You
    Shannon

I don't fully understand - trying to get a full picture of what's happening...

What you are saying is that in Actinic the orders in the order tab keeps refreshing every few seconds. Why would this stop you from accessing orders though? When it's not refreshing can you not open an order?

You say you've tried the db on other computers - does that mean that the other computers also show the same problem - just with that particular db? If this is true then it must be related to that particular db.

Otherwise - A long shot - I would check the dynamic antivirus settings on your machine and try excluding files with extension *.mdb.

Do you have multisite - does it only happen with this site?
Is your v8 site also on the smea pc? - is it working ok?

    Sounds very strange.

If it's not software and it isn't actinic then the only thing I can think of is that there might be a problem with the computer.

      I would:

      1. Try a different keyboard.

      2. Have you installed any new hardware recently? Graphics card, modem card, memory modules? If so, try swapping back.

      3. Try Actbic on another PC. If it works, then buy a new PC or swap with another one in the office.

Thanks for the comments so far.

I have tried to exclude the *.mdb files from Nortons and i have rolled back all the drivers to last known good configuration. This is really a puzzling one. i shall battle on and let you know if i find something.

Have you tried compacting and repairing the database in Access?

          Kind regards,
