    importing from spreadsheet

Help, I have been trying for 3 weeks to get my head round importing my products from a spreadsheet. My latest attempt has taken all the other examples off.! Can anyone out there give me a shove in the right direction? I have Just bought Actinic 8, but am tearing my hair out.

If you could tell us what the issues you are facing and steps you have taken thus far it would help.

      importing

So far I havve followed every step in the help files and the @getting Started@ book, Tried to import a few items to see what happened, but managed to wipe out the original items! Read and Re-read every related forum item, but I think I am too inexperienced to understand it all. Kathy

If you're doing File -> Import -> Flat File Import then make sure you have the radio button for Update selected rather than Replace - this will keep all your existing products there and just add new ones - or if you have items that have the same Product Reference it will update them with any updated details.

Can you upload a sample of your excel db you are using please (1 line will be fine)

I take it you are importing a flat file?

How many lines you trying to put in out of interest?

May be quicker for you to add a few by hand directly and then export the file to see how it is done?

          Just a thought.

Have you imported these and published yet?

If so can you whack up a url/test url so I can see what the mapping is doing for your items

No- I don't have the confidence to upload anything yet. Maybe I should if it would help?

Switch it to test mode Kathy, it is not vital, I just would like to see what your resulting import is.

The actinic mapping is a real help if you find you are struggling.

                    importing

I have now uploaded to the web, WWW.aquamation-irrigation.co.uk

                    (but only google finds it)

                    No real details are showing!

How do I find out what's wrong?
