    acd file says 0 kb???

    Using Business Multi User v8.5.1

My snapshot file .acd says that it is 0kb/mb in size? A bit worrying since my version 7 snapshots were about 120mb. How can I test that the data has actually been backed up??

After creating a snapshot the software closes? is this normal.

    Cheers all,

This probably means that the snapshot file is empty, so something must have gone wrong during the snapshot export - it has created the file but hasn't filled it up.

Compact your database and try again.

After you have a successful snapshot you can 'see' inside the acd file with earlier versions of winzip such as version 7.

Not a solution but a prime example why you should NEVER snapshot using the same filename as it can kill the existing data.

Have you deleted the old ACD from the hard drive and snapshotted to a new file name in a different location?

              Hi Jont,
No, i always use a new filename for the acd but it does go in the same directory - c/progfiles/actinivV8/sitebackups. Is this likeley to make a difference??

As safeguard I would copy the complete contents of the Site1 folder to a safe place until you resolve the problem.

If you have multi user or can get someone to setup a new site with your site folder then you may be able to recover that way?

To be clear I havn't actually lost the site data, It's still there in SITE1 and site if functioning OK. Just can't make a backup/snapshot. I have burnt the SITE1 folder in it's entirety to disk and also uploaded it to our server just in case.

It will be yes but there is something wrong if you cannot make a snapshot. Sometimes if you put the folder into a new registered site it starts working again is all Im saying.

When you take your snapshot, do you get any errors?

                              Hi Jan,
Strangely no but after 30 seconds of the snapshot starting a small box appears which says 'No Errors', click OK and it goes away.... a bit odd do you think?
