This just got bizarre.
Having gone through the above procedure and sorted out my laptop, I started to do the same on my desktop when I got home.
Opened up Actinic, no problem. I did this a few times and still the problem did not manifest itself
Had a cup of tea and a think. Then as I was just 'clicking around' I clicked on the Actinic link that was pinned to the start menu (XP Pro). Problem back. Closed Actinic and used the desktop icon; problem gone.
I did this a few times and it was clear that using the link that is pinned to the start menu manifests the problem. Using the desktop icon does not.
I opened Actinic using the pinned link and went through the procedure in my last post and eventually cleared the problem.
I unpinned the link from the start menu, then repinned it. The problem was still gone.
I have no idea why this happened.
