Rollback? Fair point, but I stupidly hoped Actinic would release a quick fix for such a significant application-crashing data-mashing bug!
Peter, we could go on for hours. Their 8.5.1 release was the most shocking software release i have ever seen or been part of in my life, it is about to be the third version of the same number - that is truly shocking. But, it is done with now, we cannot take that back.

Your site upgrade went OK it appeared and then it went tits up. You have now learnt that whatever you think should happen or whatever price tag you have paid, it means nothing at all. You should protect yourself, your business and your livelihood like it is the last pound you have on earth. Any less importance and you might just end up with a disaster on your hands.

The world is absolutely full of 'shoulds', they mean nothing at all, expect and protect against the worst situation and you will always be prepared and rarely angry or out of pocket too much.

Why not downgrade to v8.5 and import your old v7 snapshot, i've heard you mention waiting for v9, you do realise you probably won't see it this year?

They've never done anything quick, they are certainly not dynamic, but we love them in our own special way, just like we love our grandparents. Imagine a software design company walking on a zimmer frame and you will have a perfect vision of the company we all love.

You 'aint gonna win this Peter, because Lee is the actinic version of Alan Sugar.

He is FANTASTIC at telling people about their business and how it should or should not run! He's our own trouble shooter.

People who reply using the kind of language that Lee uses have got a real attitude problem. Its extremely insulting and patronizing to reply to threads like he does, and there are plenty of examples.

Lee and RuralWeb are addicted to the forums and will run their computers till the early hours winning arguments and increasing their post count by bullying people who need help. I bet they don't have many friends outside their little bubbles.

Also, ANYONE who can put that much effort telling us how good they are, should maybe look at their own business. How can anyone who runs a successful business be able to put this much time into replys? Well let me be Alan for a minute. They don't have any work on! There you go -- doesn't matter what they say, they are not busy enough.

Forget it Peter, and FFS, move on -- it's not worth it.

This forum is RUN by two idiots.

So the showstopper you allude to isn't happening for me, you will note all marketing menus are off at the moment, experience comes to the fore again?
So your client will not get some of the best marketing features that Actinic offers? Wow, they must be pleased.

LooseDrumSticks - thanks, the same thoughts occured to me

Wooosh moment? As in Way over my head? Ha ha, very good. If you want to insult me, at least have the balls to do it properly.

No, this is not a woosh moment for me. But I am wondering if it is for you.

30 hours and you're still seething, i'd recommend a chill pill Peter. Whoosh is not an insult in any shape way or form, it's a very common way of saying 'missed the point'.

If i wanted to insult you, rest assured you would be left in no doubt that i had wanted to. Surely you have better things to do that try and pick a fight with someone you don't even know? Please move on, this conversation was done with and finished 30 hours ago, leave it that way.

If you insist on continuing, please do so via my email address.

                    Thanks.

Phew, thank God i asked whether you was a liar and didn't say you was one then, we could have been fighting outside the school gates at 3:40 otherwise.

Just for the record so i know in case we happen to talk in the same thread again (lets hope we don't for the good of the forum, but you never know). If i am wanting to insult you, you want me to be direct and have the balls to do it properly? But if i have a question which you might not like, i should not be direct? How do i know whether to be direct or not? I get confused easily you see.

Lee, you were not just asking a question, you phrased it in a way intended to insult me.

                              Update on Duplicate Refreshing problem

                              Hi All,

Just a quick update on my original posting about the problem I was having when refreshing duplicates on the site. Various products (I'd say about 1/2 of the catalog) caused Actinic to crash whenever I tried to refresh the content. Yay!

I also had a problem that new variables were not been recognised by some products, which was causing us huge problems as we couldn't use new functionality that I'd created.

Actinic went through various fixes with me but sadly nothing worked - though to be fair they had a really good stab at it.

Anyway, last week they gave us the 8.5.2 beta and it literally fixed ALL of our problems. I don't know what they've been feeding the Actinic developers on, but this release really has done the trick for us. :-)

                              Kind regards,

                              Amy
